Why Businesses Are Choosing
Ground Mounted Solar

High Capacity Systems Icon

No Rooftop Constraints

Rooftop solar is excellent but limited by roof area, load, shading, and geometry. Ground solar panels face none of these limits. System size depends on energy needs and land.

Maximum Energy Output Icon

Optimal Panel Orientation

One key advantage of ground mounted solar systems is orientation freedom. Panels can be installed at ideal tilt, faced south, and spaced to eliminate inter-row shading.

Scalable Energy Solutions Icon

Scalable as Your Business Grows

Energy demand rarely stays static as production expands or facilities grow. Ground mounted solar panels can be designed for future expansion, with additional rows added without disrupting operations.

Land Utilization Benefits Icon

Turn Idle Land into a Revenue-Generating Asset

Vacant or underutilised land generates no return while adding maintenance costs. A ground solar installation converts it into a clean energy asset with defined ROI, tax benefits and long-term working life.

How AVCO Delivers
Your Ground Mounted Solar System

Ground mounted solar projects involve civil works, land assessment, structural engineering, and grid connectivity. AVCO's process manages this complexity while keeping your involvement simple.

01

Site Assessment

Professional engineers evaluate land, shading, soil, grid and energy profile.

02

Custom System Design

Detailed system design includes layout, structure, cabling, sizing and yield; site-specific.

03

Commissioning and Installation

Our team manages approvals, DISCOM applications, grid connectivity, metering and compliance.

04

Monitoring & Maintenance

Post-commissioning monitoring and maintenance with 48-hour response for performance issues.

Flexible Financing Models

AVCO offers two procurement models based on capital, tax and ownership preferences.

CAPEX Model

SELF-OWNED

Under the CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) model, your organisation purchases the ground mounted solar system outright. You own the asset, receive all the energy it generates, and benefit from the full range of financial incentives available to solar investors in India.

  • Maximum long-term ROI
  • Accelerated depreciation benefit
  • Asset ownership adds to valuation
  • Complete energy independence

PPA Model

ZERO-INVEST

Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) or OPEX model, AVCO builds, owns, and operates the ground-mounted solar plant on your land. You pay only for the units of electricity the system generates at a rate below your current grid tariff. No capital outlay. No O&M responsibility.

  • Zero upfront investment
  • Immediate savings from day one
  • All O&M risks and costs remain with AVCO
  • No depreciation or asset management

Frequently Asked Questions: Ground Mounted Solar Panels in India

A standard ground based solar installation requires approximately 2–2.5 acres of land per megawatt (MW) of installed capacity. This accounts for panel spacing, inter-row gaps to eliminate shading, access paths for maintenance, and inverter/transformer placement. Irregular terrain, trees, or water bodies on the land may affect the net usable area. AVCO's site assessment provides a precise usable capacity estimate for your specific parcel.

Ground mounted solar systems are technically viable from around 100 KW upwards, but they become increasingly cost-efficient at 500 KW and above, where civil and structural costs are better amortised across a larger generation capacity. For smaller requirements, rooftop solar is usually more economical. AVCO's team will advise on the right solution based on your actual energy demand.

For commercial and industrial ground mounted solar projects in India, payback periods typically fall in the range of 3–5 years under the CAPEX model, depending on system size, prevailing grid tariff, plant load factor, and applicable subsidies or accelerated depreciation. After payback, the system continues generating near-zero-cost electricity for 20+ years.

Approvals vary by state and system size but typically include land use/conversion clearances (if applicable), DISCOM grid connectivity approval, net metering or energy export agreement, and for systems above a certain threshold state electricity regulatory commission permissions. AVCO handles the complete approvals process for every project we deliver.

Ground based solar panels are installed on open land using purpose-built mounting structures, while rooftop solar is installed on a building's existing roof surface. Ground mounted systems can be scaled freely based on land availability, can be oriented at the optimal tilt angle regardless of roof direction, and are not constrained by roof load capacity or waterproofing concerns. They require civil works that rooftop systems do not, but deliver higher yield per panel and greater total system capacity.

Yes. Ground mounted solar can be installed on agricultural land, with appropriate land-use approvals where required. Irregular terrain is manageable through adapted mounting structure design and terrain-levelling civil works. AVCO has successfully delivered ground based solar installations on tea estate land which is inherently varied and sloped demonstrating our practical experience with non-ideal terrain.

Yes. AVCO's PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) model allows organisations to host a ground-mounted solar plant on their land and purchase the energy generated at below-grid rates with zero capital outlay, zero O&M responsibility, and immediate savings from day one. Contact us to model the financial outcome for your site.

Timelines depend on system size, site complexity, and state-specific approvals. For a 500 KW system, the complete process from site assessment to commissioning typically takes 10 to 16 weeks. Larger multi-MW systems may require longer, particularly where grid connectivity lead times are involved. AVCO provides a detailed project schedule at the proposal stage.
